約翰連儂(John Lennon, 1940-1980 ) ──
生於利物浦一個貧困的家庭.他16歲時已經組織一隊樂隊,在一次演出中,遇到保羅.麥卡尼( Paul Mc Cartney )後,決定一起組成樂隊,並加入兩位成員:George Harrison 和 Ringo Star,於1959年成立了Beatles.他們一起創作,演出.特別是約翰連儂和保羅.麥卡尼都格外下功夫,不久便寫好一批樂曲,如< I want to hold your hand>,<She love your>等,開始引起人們的注意.1960年,他們去漢堡等地演出,進一步提高他們的演出水準.1962年,推出單曲<Love me do >,樂隊成立初期,Beatles的歌唱內容多數是歌頌友誼,愛情.歌曲風格也純樸簡明,演出時的裝束也比較簡單整潔,每唱完一曲,均向觀眾鞠躬,顯得彬彬有禮.他們只是在留了長髮,因此有人稱他們為"坡頭四"~1963年,Beatles推出第一個專輯< With the beatles >,銷量達百萬! 1969年,Beatles推出最後一張專輯<Abbey road>,於 1970年,Beatles宣告正式解散. 六十年代末至七十年代的披頭四(Beatles)，由於音樂的愈趨豐富和信息上的複雜，超越了早期作為偶像的層次，而更根本的原因是他們四人各自都有思想上的獨特發展。七十年代的約翰連儂

披頭四時期的連儂，歌曲常見特立獨行的訴求，拆夥後，他的歌曲仍有訴求，但似乎有更多的同情和理解。他自身也歷經反思和探索，經過七十年代一段長時間的歸隱，最後決意更平實地面對新降臨的八十年代。
